The Country Of Japan ( Week 1)

Hello everyone! My chosen country was Japan.

Japan is an island country in East Asia, and is bordered by the Sea of Japan, Sea of Okhotsk, East China Sea, and the Philippine Sea. Japan is an archipelago which are a group of islands, the four main islands being Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu. The majority of Japan is covered with mountains within those mountain is Mount Fuji which is the tallest peak but is also considered scared by many Japanese. Japan is a beautiful place but is also just as dangerous due to three of the tectonics plates that form the earth's crust meet nearby and often move against each other causing numerous of earthquakes. Japan contains about 200 volcanos and 60 of those are active.

A natural hazard comes from the environment itself and it is a threat/danger to ones self or our properties. Some of these natural hazards are fires, earthquakes, and flooding. A disaster is the result from a natural hazard that impacts a community. Disasters can cause lost of life and damage to property, some of these disasters are hurricanes, cyclones, volcanoes, tsunamis, and earthquakes. A catastrophe are events that cause great damage, injury, and suffering that take a long time to repair such as a huge earthquake that causes hundreds of people to lose their homes and have to repair these damages that could take a long period of time and a lot of money.
